Welcome

This blog started as an offshoot of the popular webinar series, Practical Management or Practical Magic.  The webinar could never answer all the questions posed, and this blog became a natural overflow.  Although authors of individual briefings will naturally reflect their own experiences, this blog will always include authors and reviewers from all types of libraries.  Academic, public, school, and special librarians might respond to a question differently, and we need those unique perspectives.

Having said that, all of us are still learning, and will continue to do so until we stop breathing.  Each situation is different, and what works in one location might not work for you.  Most importantly for our home libraries, we are not making advice on behalf of our institutions!

As librarians, we respect free speech.  However, we try to model a civil society, and we encourage witty and intelligible comments.  Always assume that people are coming to the conversation with good intentions.  To quote a recent Nobel laureate, “We always did feel the same; we just saw it from a different point of view.”  Share your point of view, share your resources, and share your ideas.  We also encourage the original letter writer to participate in the conversation.  That person alone is allowed to call themselves OP.
